Hey mate

Proper Question :-

Rahul observing his image in a plane mirror. The distance between the image and the mirror is 4 m. If he moves 1 m towards the mirror. What will be the distance between Rahul and his image.

Answer :-

6

Explanation :-

1)

In this problem, Rahul is the object. Initially, the distance between the mirror and Rahul 's image is 4 m. Since the distance of object from plane mirror is equal to distance of image from the plane mirror, therfere, the distance of Rahul which is a object, from the plane mirror is also 4 m

Now Rahul mover 1 m towards the mirror. This means that the distance of Rahul from mirror will be

4 - 1 = 3 \: m

Since the image is formed at the same distance behind the mirror as the object is in the front of it, therefore, the distance of image from mirror in this case will also be 3 m

Now,

distance \: of \: rahul \: from \: mirror \: = 3 \: m.........(in \: front) \\ distance \: of \: image \: from \: mirror \: = 3m \: ........(at \: the \: back \: ) \\

So the distance between Rahul and his image

 = \: 3 \: m + 3 \: m \\ = 6 \: m
