let rahul's age be y and mom's age be x
x=6y
x-6y=0
2/7(x+5)=y+5
2x-7y=35
y=7
x=42

Hi !

Let the age of Rahul be "x years" .
His mother's age would be "6x years"

Ages after 5 years ,
Rahul's age = x + 5 years
Mother's age = 6x + 5 years

A.T.Q ,

x + 5 = 2/7 [ 6x + 5 ]
x+ 5 = 12/7 x + 10/7

x - 12/7x = 10/7 - 5

x - 12/7x = 10/7 - 35/7

x - 12/7x = -25/7

Multiplying throughout by 7 ,

7x - 12x = -25

-5x = -25

x = -25/-5

x = 5

Rahul's age = 5 years
Mother's age = 6x = 6*5 = 30 years
