Given :   Rahul sold a camera at a gain of 12% to Hari, and Hari sold to Rohit at a loss of 5%. now Rohit sell it to Sweta  Sweta paid 1330 for it.

To find : what did Rahul paid for it

Solution:

Let say Rahul paid for camera  = C

Cost price for Rahul = C

12 % Gain when selling to Hari = (12/100)C = 0.12C

Selling price to Hari  = C + 0.12C = 1.12C

Cost price for Hari = 1.12C

Hari sold to Rohit at a loss of 5%

loss = (5/100)1.12C =  0.056C

Selling price to Rohit = 1.12C - 0.056C  = 1.064C

Rohit sell it to Sweta

( assumed no loss no profit)

=> 1.064C = 1330

=> C = 1250

Rahul paid 1250 for camera

Answer:

Rahul paid rs 1250 for camera

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the rahul paid for camera be x

cost price for rahul= x

12% gain when selling to hari=(12/100)x=0.12x

selling price to hari =x+0.12=1.12x

cost price for hari =1.12x

hari sold to rahit at a loss of 5% loss =(5/100)1.12x= 0.056x

selling price to rohit=1.12x+0.056x=1.064x

rohit sell it to sweta

(assumed no loss no profit)

so,1.064x=1330

x=1330/1.064

=1250

Rahul paid rs 1250 for camera
