10% of 990 = 10/100*990 =99
99 + 990=1980
therefore, rahul purchased it in rupees 1980 - 99 = rupees 990

Rahul bought the watch =100
So now he sold it to sohan at 10% gain
So selling price=cpx(100+gain%)/100
=100x(100+10)/100
=100x110/100
=110
Now sohan sold it to mohan at 10% loss
(Now cp=110)
Then sp=cpx(100-loss%)/100
=110x(100-10)/100
=110x90/100
=11x9
=99
But according to question mohan paid =₹990
One unit assumed =990/99 =10
Then rahul paid =100x10=₹1000
