Procedure to solve this:

  • Here, we are given that time taken to travel is 20hrs.
  • Also, speed of the car is 15km/h.
  • Now, by applying the formula of distance [ Distance = Speed × Time ], we can calculate the distance.
  • But, we'll get our answer in km, so we'll convert km to m to get the correct answer.

 {\underline {\underline {\huge {\sf { Solution:– } }}}}

Given:

  • Time taken (t) = 20 hrs

  • Speed of the car (v) = 15km/h

To calculate:

  • Distance between Bombay and Kerala. (in metres)

Calculation:

We know that,

  •  {\underline {\boxed {\Large {\sf {\pink { d = vt } }}}}}

Where,

• d = distance

• v = speed

• t = time

 \sf { ⇢ d = 20 \times 15 }

⠀⠀⠀

 \boxed { \sf \pink { ⇢ d = 300km}}

Therefore,distance between Bombay to Kerala is 300km.

Expressing it into m :–

We know that,

  • 1 km = 1000 m

 \boxed { \sf \pink { \therefore ⇢ 300km = 3,00,000m}}

Distance

  • Distance is the total path covered by the body.
  • It is denoted by letter 'd'.
  • SI unit of distance is m.
  • Distance is a scalar quantity.

Formula :  \boxed { \sf \pink { Distance = Speed \times time}} or  \boxed { \sf \pink { d =vt}}

Speed

  • Speed is a scalar quantity.
  • SI unit of speed is m/s.

Formula :  \boxed { \sf \pink { Speed = \dfrac{Distance}{time}}} or  \boxed { \sf \pink { v = \dfrac{d}{t} }}
