Given :

▪ Rahul travels 5km in 10min and another 5km in 20min.

To Find :

▪ Average speed of rahul in

  • kmph
  • mps

ConcepT :

↗ Average speed is defined as the ratio of total distance travelled to the total time taken.

↗ It is a scalar quantity.

↗ It can't be negative or zero.

↗ It has only magnitude.

↗ SI unit : m/s

CalcuLaTioN :

⤵ Total distance = 5 + 5 = 10km

⤵ Total time = 10 + 20 = 30min

⭐ 60min = 1h

⭐ 30min = 30/60 = 0.5h

\Rightarrow\bf\:\color{red}{v_{av}=\dfrac{Distance\:travelled}{Time\:taken}}\\ \\ \Rightarrow\sf\:v_{av}=\dfrac{10}{0.5}\\ \\ \Rightarrow\underline{\boxed{\bf{\color{navy}{v_{av}=20kmph}}}}\:\color{gold}{\bigstar}

ConversioN :

❇ 1kmph = 1000/3600 = 5/18mps

❇ 20kmph = 20×5/18

\dag\:\underline{\boxed{\bf{\purple{v_{av}=5.56mps}}}}\:\color{silver}{\bigstar}
