Step-by-step explanation:

Given :-

Rahul travels equal distances with speeds of 2 km/hr, 3 km/hr and 4 km/hr and takes a total time of 52 minutes.

To find :-

Find the total distance travelled by him. ?

Solution :-

Let the distances travelled by Rahul each be

X km

So, they are X km , X km and X km

Since they are equal distances

The speeds of Rahul = 2 km/hr, 3 km/hr and

4 km/hr

We know that

Distance = Speed × Time

=> Time = Distance / Speed

Time taken by him for X km with the speed of

2 km/hr = X/2 hr --------(1)

Time taken by him for X km with the speed of

3km/hr = X/3 hr ----------(2)

Time taken by him for X km with the speed of

4 km/hr = X/4 hr --------(3)

Total Time taken for travelling total distance

=> (X/2)+(X/3)+(X/4)

LCM of 2 , 3 and 4 = 12

=> [(6×X)+(4×X)+(3×X)]/12

=> (6X+4X+3X)/12

=> 13X/12 hrs

According to the given problem

Total Time taken by Rahul = 52 minutes

We know that

1 hour = 60 minutes

=> 1 minute = 1/60 hrs

=> 52 minutes = 52/60 hours

Now, We have

13X/12 = 52/60

On applying cross multiplication then

=> 13X×60 = 52×12

=> 780X = 624

=> X = 624/780

=> X = (4×156)/(5×156)

=> X = 4/5 km

or

We know that

1 km = 1000 meters

=> 4/5 km = (4/5)×1000 meters

=> (4×1000)/5

=> 4000/5

=> 800 meters

The distance = 800 meters

Total distance travelled by Rahul

= 800 m + 800 m + 800 m

= 2400 meters or 2.4 km

Answer:-

Total distance travelled by Rahul is 2400 m (or)

2.4 km

Used formulae:-

→ Distance = Speed × Time

→ 1 hour = 60 minutes

→ 1 km = 1000 meters
