Rahul was heating oil to fry potato chips. The cooking oil all of a sudden caught fire; he poured water to extinguish the fire. Do you think this action was suitable? If yes, why? If not, why not? In such a condition what should Rahul have done?

no this is not a good idea he should use soda acid fire extinguisher because as oils density level is less than water and oil will float and fire may not stop

No , the action taken by Manu was not suitable at all as water is heavier than oil. When we pour water on burning oil, the water will settles at the bottom. Instead of water ,he might have used fire extinguisher (Carbon dioxide) or he had covered with a thick blanket ,as, it will cover that area and cut off the supply of oxygen. In this way he will be able to stop the fire.

(Hope it helped)
