Answer:

6 hrs

Explanation:

Time taken to cover 10 km = 10/8 hrs = 5/4 hrs or 75 min

He takes 20 min rest So, total time taken to cover 10 km= 75+20 = 95 min.

By unitary method,

10 km = 95/60 hr

1 km = 95/60× 1/10

40 km = 95/60×1/10× 40 = 19/3 hrs or 380 min

At last 20 min will not be added because he reached his destination. So Time taken to cover 40 km is 360 min or 6 hrs.

Hope it helps u.
