Raja Rammohan Roy drove India from dark to light. He was the first Indianto take the lead in the direction of social reform and has been rightlycalled the father of modern India. He condemned polytheism and idol worship and propagated the concept of one god of all religions and humanity.

Raja Rammohan Roy is called as ‘Father of Modern India’ because he advocated progressive changes in nineteenth-century society of India and wanted India to be free from all social evils.

  • Raja Ram Mohan Roy was a liberal thinker, scholar, and political activist in nineteenth-century India in Bengal Province. He was scholar in many languages including Bangla, Greek, Latin, etc.
