The correct answer would be within the period of six months from the date of his appointment as the minister.

Explanation:

  • There is a provision that the Prime Minister with the help of other elected members of his party cam constitute his Cabinet Ministers.
  • They should preferably be the elected member of the either house of the parliament.
  • But if in any case, the appointed minister is not a member of either house of the parliament, he/ she should become the member of either house of the parliament within six months from the date of his/ her appointment as minister.
  • If he/ she fails to do so, his / her membership for the post of that ministry will deemed to be cancelled, and he cannot hold that position any longer.
  • So, if Ranjan has to continue his post as the minister he must become a member of either house of parliament within the period of six months from the date of his appointment as the minister.
