cm=1/100 m
so..
85 cm is equal to 85/100 .85m
40cm equal to 40/100 .4
so
1m+2m+.4m+.85m = 3.89 so he needs
8-3.89= 4.11

hope it helps you

Dear Student,

● Answer -

Rope required = 3 m 55 cm

● Explanation -

Given that Rajat has 3 ropes of length 1 m 20 cm = 1.2 m, 85 cm = 0.85 m and 2 m 40 cm = 2.4 m.

So total rope available to Rajat,

Available rope = 1.2 + 0.85 + 2.4

Available rope = 4.45 m

Given that he needs 8 m rope for work.

Rope required = 8 - 4.45

Rope required = 3.55 m

Rope required = 3 m 55 cm

Hence, 3 m 55 cm more rope is required.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
