rajesh and rajiv can do a work in 18hrs. They worked together for 8hrs and then rajesh left the work. How long will rajiv take to finish the work if rajiv alone can do it in 27hrs?

Together, they can do 1/18 th of the work in an hour. So, in 8 hours they will have done 8/18 i.e., 4/9 th of the work.
Rajiv can do the work in 27 hrs. So, to complete the rest i.e., 5/9 the of the work, he will take 27*5/9, which is 15 hrs.

nick124: how did you get 4/9
BBloggsbott: They can do the work in 18 hrs. So, in one hour they can do 1/18 th of the work. They have worked for 8 hours. So, in 8 hrs, they can do 8*(1/18) th of the work, i.e., 8/18 i.e., 4/9
