rajesh rode his bicycle from home to city which is 4km away . it took him 8min time toreach city . in return journey he rode home using a shorter route of 3 km . this only took him 6min . what was the average speed in km /hr . for the journey home to city and back ​

Solution :-

given that ,

→ Distance = 4 km

→ Time taken to reach city = 8 min .

also,

→ Distance covered in return journey = 3 km

→ Time taken = 6 min .

So,

→ Total distance covered = 4 + 3 = 7 km

→ Total time taken = 8 + 6 = 14 minutes .

therefore,

→ Average speed = Total distance covered / Total time taken = (7/14) = (1/2) km / min .

now,

→ Distance covered in 1 min = (1/2) km

→ Distance covered in 60 min = (1/2) * 60 = 30 km .

Hence, the average for the journey home to city and back is 30 km/hr .
