that all distance covered are in straight lines, if the house is situated at (2,4), mall at (5,8), wife’s office at (13,14) and office at (13,26) and coordinates are in kilometre.

2.4 km is the extra distance travelled by Rajesh in reaching his office

Step-by-step explanation:

Rajesh starts walking from his house (2 , 4)

he goes to a mall first ( 5 , 8)

Distance covered from office to Mall

= √(5 -2)² + (8 - 4)² = √(9 + 16) = √25 = 5 km

from Mall to his wife’s office ( 13 , 14)

Distance =  √(13 -5)² + (14 - 8)² = √(64 + 36) = √100 = 10 km

then reaches the office ( 13 , 26)

Distance = √(13 -13)² + (26 - 14)² = √(0 + 144) = √144 = 12 km

Total Distance covered = 5 + 10 + 12 = 27 km

Distance between home & office

Distance = √(13 -2)² + (26 - 4)² = √(121 +484) = √605 = 24.6 km

Extra Distance covered = 27 - 24.6  = 2.4 km
