Given:-

  • Raju goes to the football ground to play football.
  • Distance -time graph of his journey from his home to the ground is given .

To Find:-

  • (a) What does the graph between points B and C indicate about the motion of Raju?
  • (b) Is the motion between 0 to 4 minutes uniform or non-uniform?

  • (c) Calculate his average speed?

Formula Used:-

Average speed can be calculated by :-

\large{\underline{\boxed{\green{\tt{\dag Speed_{avg}=\dfrac{Total\: distance}{Total\:time}}}}}}

Answer:-

(a) We know that the slope of (s - t) graph gives us speed/Velocity . There we can see that the slope is a straight line so the speed is 0 . So Raju was at rest from 4 to 8 minutes.

(b) the motion is 0 to 4 minutes of Raju's motion is is uniform motion since the slope of the graph is a straight line. So he has a uniform motion.

(c) We know that average speed equals to total distance covered divided by total time taken. Here total distance covered is 225 m and total time taken is 12 minutes.

Now 12 min = 12 × 60s = 720s.

➥ Avg. Speed = 225m / 720 s.

➥ Avg. Speed = 0.3125 m/s .

Hence the average speed is 0.3125 metre per second.
