Splitting the middle term,

4x² + (35 - 32) x - 280 = 0

⇒4x² + 35x - 32x - 280 = 0

⇒ x (4x + 35) - 8 (4x - 35) = 0

⇒ (x - 8) (4x + 35) = 0

Now, value of x can be 8 or 35/4.

But, age cannot be in fraction or decimal.

Hence, age of Raju = 8 years.
