We can not say that the expression is not a polynomial.

Step-by-step explanation:

We have to decide whether the expression, x^{2}  - 6x + 3\sqrt{x} + 1 is a polynomial or not.

The exponents at the power of variable x can only be 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, etc in a polynomial.

Since there is a term in the expression which is 3\sqrt{x},where the exponent of x is \frac{1}{2}, which is not possible in a polynomial by its definition.

Therefore, we can not say that the expression is not a polynomial. (Answer)
