Sides of the carpet (a) = 4m

Therefore, area of the carpet = (a)²

= (4m × 4m)

= 16m²

Now, sides of room (A) = 6m

Therefore, area of room = (A)²

= (6m × 6m)

= 36m²

Leftover portion of the room = {(A)² - (a)²}

= {36m² - 16m²}

= 20m²

Hence, area of the leftover portion of the room = 20m²

Given - Side of carpet and room

Find - Area left without carpet

Solution - Area of carpet = side²

Area of carpet = 4²

Taking square

Area of carpet = 16 m²

Area of room = side²

Area of room = 6²

Taking square

Area of room = 36 m²

Area of room left uncovered = 36 - 16

Performing substraction to find the area of room left uncovered

Area of room left uncovered = 20 m².

Therefore, the area of room without carpet is 20 .
