Rakesh can do a job in 24 days and Bhaskar can finish the same job in 30 days. (i) How long will they take to complete the job if they work together? (ii) If they are paid 1800 for the job, what is the share of each?

rakesh can do a job in 24 days

In 1 day, rakesh can finish = 1/24 of the work

Bhaskar can finish the same job in 30 days

In 1 day, bhaskar can finish = 1/30 of the work

In 1 day, both can finish = 1/24 + 1/30 = (5+4)/120 = 9/120 of the work.

total days to finish it = 1/(9/120) = 120/9 days = 13.33 days

______________________

total amount paid for the work = 1800

in 120/9 days, rakesh did = 120/9 ÷ 24 = 5/9 of the work

So rakesh's share = 5/9 × 1800 = 1000

Bhaskar's share = 1800 - 1000 = 800
