The force which balances the force applied by Rakesh is Static Frictional Force.

Frictional Force is of two types :

  • Static friction

  • Kinetic friction

Whenever Rakesh tried to push up box on the rough floor, the static frictional force opposed the applied force and kept the box stationary.

Static friction is a self regulating type of force. With increase in applied force ladies simultaneous increased in the static friction until a critical point after which the box starts moving.

After the movement of the box a new type of frictional force acts known as the kinetic friction, which is lesser as compared to to static friction.
