Let Ralph's present age be x yrs
and Sara's present age be y yrs

x = 3y. ---------------------(i)

After 6 years
Ralph's age = x+6
Sara's age = y+6

=> (x+6) = 2(y+6)
=> x+6 = 2y + 12
=> x-2y-6 = 0 -----------------(ii)

Substituting the value of x from (i) into (ii)

=> 3y -2y = 6
=> y = 6

x = 3y
=> 3*6
= 18


Therefore, Ralph's present age is 18 years.
