Given : Ram and Shyam invested 36,000 and 54,000 respectively to start a business together  Ram got a fixed amount as annual salary   After Ram was paid his salary, the remaining profit was distributed to both of them in the ratio of their investments by Ram and Shyam were in the ratio of 3:2

To find : what percent of profit did Ram receive as salary

Solution:

Ram and Shyam invested 36,000 and 54,000 respectively

Ram : Shayam =  36000 : 54000

=> Ram : Shayam =  2 : 3

Ram Share = 2/5

Shayam Share = 3/5

Let say  Profit  = 100P

percent of profit  Ram received as Salary = x

Ram received Salary = (x/100)100P = Px

Remaining Profit  =  100P - Px = P(100 - x)

Ram Share = (2/5)P(100 - x)

Shayam Share = (3/5)P(100 - x)

Ram Total Share including salary = (2/5)P(100 - x) + Px

= P (200 - 2x + 5x)/5

= P(200 + 3x)/5

(P(200 + 3x)/5 ) / (3/5)P(100 - x)    = 3/2

=> 2P(200 + 3x) = 9P(100 - x)

=> 400 + 6x  = 900 - 9x

=> 15x = 500

=> x  = 500/15

=> x  = 100/3

=> x = 33.33 %

33.33 %    of profit   Ram receive as salary
