Shyam alone can finish the work in 60 days

Step-by-step explanation:

Let Ram's 1 day's work = x and Shyam's 1 day's work = y.

Both Ram's and Shyam's 1 day work=1/30

i.e (Ram's 1 day + Shyam's 1 day)=1/30

i.e x + y = 1/30 __________ (a)

now,

Ram having worked for 16 days, Shyam finishes the remaining work alone in 44 days

i.e work done by Ram in 16 days = 16x

Remaining work done Shyam = 1 - 16x

but Remaining work is done by Shyam in 44days i.e 44y

i.e. 44y=1-16x

i.e 16x+44y=1 ________ (b)

solving (a) and (b)

we get , x = 1/60 and y = 1/60

Shyam's 1 day's work = 1/60.

Hence, Shyam alone shall finish the whole work in 60 days.
