Q. Ram is 10 years older than his sister. If the sum of their ages is 40, find their ages.

Ans -

→ Let Ram's sister age be 'x' years.

→ Then, Ram's age would be x+10 (i.e 10 more than x )

→ Sum of their ages is 40

So, we got an equation to compute, i.e -

$x+10+x=40\\\\2x+10=40\\\\2x=40-10\\\\2x=30\\\\x=\frac{30}{2}\\\\x=15$

⇒ Ram's sister age = x = 15 years

⇒ Ram's age = x+10 = 15+10 = 25 years

∴ Ram and his sister's age is 25 yrs and 15 yrs respectively.
