Answer:

Distance = 20 metres

Displacement = 0 metres

Explanation:

Given :

  • Distance from school to home = 10 metres

  • Ram goes to his school and again comes back

To find :

  • Distance covered by ram

  • Displacement of ram

Distance = 10+10

Distance = 20 metres

The distance covered by Ram is equal to 20 metres

Displacement is the shortest distance covered by an object

Displacement = 0 metres ( ram returns back to his initial position, so Displacement is 0 metres)

Hence,

  • Distance = 20 metres
  • Displacement = 0 metres

Diagram:

A ____________ B

––– Going –––→

←–– Returning –-

Here , ram is going and returning to the same path so, displacement = 0

Given;

  • Distance from school to Home = 10m

To find:

  • Distance
  • Displacement

Solution:

Let

  • School be point A
  • Home be point B

As shown in figure

Total distance = Distance from A-B + B-A

(°.° From the given figure )

→ Total distance = 10 + 10

Total distance = 20m

Displacement = 0m. (°.° given in figure )
