Given:

Ram is elder than Jadu by the number of years by which he is younger

than Shyam.

If the sum of the ages of Shyam and Jadu be 21 years

To find:

The age of Ram

Solution:

Let's assume,

"R" → represents Ram's age

"S" → represents Shyam's age

"J"  → represents Jadu's age

We have,

The difference between the age of Ram and Jadu is same as that of Shyam and Ram, so we can form an equation as:

R - J = S - R

\implies R + R = S + J

\implies S + J = 2R ...... (i)

Also, the sum of the ages of Shyam and Jadu be 21 years, so we can form an equation as:

S + J = 21

on substituting from (i) we get

\implies 2R = 21

\implies R = \frac{21}{2}

\implies \bold{R = 10\frac{1}{2} }

Thus, the age of Ram is → \underline{ \bold{ 10\frac{1}{2} \:years}}.
