Let Reena's present age be x years.
So Ram's age will be 2x years.

2x-5= 3(x-5).

2x-5=3x-15.

3x-2x=15-5.

x=10 years.( Reena's present age).

2x=2*10=20 years ( Ram's present age).

Hope it helps.

Concept:

The unitary approach is a methodology for solving problems that involve first determining the value of a single unit and then multiplying that value by the required value.

Given:

Ram's age is twice Reena's age.

To Find:

The present age of Ram and Reena

Solution:

Let Reena's and Ram's present age be x and 2x years.

Use the given condition.

2x-5= 3(x-5).\\\\2x-5=3x-15.\\\\3x-2x=15-5.\\\\x=10

Reena's age is 10 years

Ram's age is 20 years
