In the in the Indian Ramayana epic, Maryada Purushottam Bhagwan Ram was the son of Queen Kausalya, the eldest of King Dasharatha's three wives. She was the daughter of the King of Magadha Kingdom (Kosala) Maharaj Sukaushal and his wife queen Amritaprabha. Dasharatha had sent a friendship offer to her father but when he declined, a war led to defeat of Sukaushal. Hence, Princess Kausalya was married off to King Dasharatha and she eventually became queen of Ayodhaya.

रानी कौशल्या अयोध्या के राजा दशरथ (श्रीराम जी के पिता) की पत्नी, सबसे बड़ी रानी थी। कौशल्या कौशल (वर्तमान - छत्तीसगढ़) के राजा सकुशल की पुत्री थी।
