Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

In the 20 litres of adulterated milk the ratio of milk to water is 5:3.

Or 5x+3x = 8x = 20, or x = 2.5

So, the contents of the adulterated milk is 12.5 litres of milk and 7.5 litres of water. If 4 litres of the adulterated milk is removed, it contains 12.5*4/20 = 2.5 litres, milk and 1.5 litres of water. Next 4 litres of pure milk is added to the remaining 16 litres.

In that event 16 litres is composed of 16*12.5/20 = 10 litres of milk and 6 litres of water. With the addition of 4 litres of pure milk, the ratio of milk to water is the new adulterated milk is 14 litres milk : 6 litres water or 7:3. Answer.
