Question :-

Ram's mother's present age is 6 times Ram's present age. Ram's age, five years from now, will be 2/7 of his mother's present age. What are their present ages ?

_______________________________________

Given :-

  • Ram's mother's present age 6 times from Ram's present age.
  • Ram's age five years from now will be 2/7 of his mother's age.

_______________________________________

Find :-

  • Present age of ram and his mother

_______________________________________

Solution :-

  • Let Ram's age be X .
  • Let Ram's mother age be 6X

Five years from now their ages will be :-

 \rm \: x + 5 =  6x + 5 \times \dfrac{2}{7}

Now the 7 as denominator goes to L.H.S side :-

: \implies \rm \:7( x + 5) =2(  6x + 5 )

: \implies \rm \:7 x +35 =12x + 10

Now bringing 7x to R.H.S So, Sign becomes negative. Also bringing 10 to L.H.S so it's sign also becomes negative.

: \implies \rm \:35  - 10=12x  - 7x

: \implies \rm \:25=5x

: \implies \rm \:5x = 25

: \implies \rm \:x =   \cancel\dfrac{25}{5}

: \implies \rm \:x =  5

  \underline{ \sf \therefore \: rams \: present \: age = x = 5. }\\   \underline{\therefore \sf \: rams \: mother \: present \: age \:  = 6x = 6 \times 5 = 30.}
