total marks=x
ram = 50%x
ram= 50/100 ×x
ram= x/2
shyam= 30%x
shyam= 30/100 ×x
shyam= 3x/10
difference=40
x/2 - 3x/10 =40
LCM of 2,10 is 10
5x-3x/10=40
2x/10=40
2x=40×10
2x=400
x=400/2
x=200
total marks =200 is answer
