Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

To start with I’m gonna assign each character a letter

Ram= X

Rahul = Y

Shyam = Z

(From here I’ll be using the letters)

We know that X is 25% cheaper than Z

So X is 75% of Z

(Could be written as X= 0.75 Z(percentage/100))

Next we learn the information that X is also 25% dearer than Y

So X is 125% of Y

(Or X = 1.25 Y)

For the next part I assign one Letter a number and work out what the other numbers would be

Eg, Y = 80 (as we are working with 25% multiples of 4 and 8 are useful to work with)

X = 100 ( As X is 1.25 times bigger than Y we simply add one quarter which is 20)

Z = 125 (as we started with Y we need to swap part of the Z calculation around so that X=0.75 Z now as Z is the subject it is now X/0.75= Z, 100/ 0.75 = 125)

Now we are left with the two values which we need to finish off the question 80 and 125

80/125 = 0.54

Therefore Rahuls is 54% cheaper than Shyam
