Answer:

The total number of days taken to complete the work is 20 days.

Step-by-step explanation:

Firstly, the work done by three persons have been mentioned but the name of the third person is missing so we consider him to be 'X'.

Using the LCM method to solve the sum,

Ram = 24 days

Shyam= 32 days

X = 64 days

So, the total work comes as 192 ( finding the LCM of days taken by all the three)

So now we can find the work done by each of them in one day

Work done by Ram in one day= 192/24 = 8

Similarly, for Shyam and X, it is 6 and 3 respectively

In the first 6 days, all three were present so total work done = Per day work × 6

= (8+6+3) × 6 = 102

In the last 6 days of work, the only X was present as the other two had left so-

Work done by X in the last 6 days = Per day work × 6

= 3 × 6 = 18

So total work done in the first 6 and last 6 days of the entire period= 102+18 = 120

Work left = 192-102 = 72

This work was done in the mid period by Shyam and X after Ram left

So time taken to complete 72 work by Shyam+X = 72/9 = 8 days

So the total time required for the work is 8+6+6 = 20 days.
