Ram started jumping down from a slow moving bus. His friend sham asked him not to do so, as this act would injure him. Ram was not ready to listen his friend sham. Then Sham asked Ram to run in the direction of moving bus as soon as his foot touches the road. Ram did so and landed safely
Why did Sham asked Ram to run in the direction of moving bus as soon as he touches the road. ?State the related law and also define the related physical quantity.

Explanation:

A person getting down from the moving bus falls in the direction of motion of the bus. This is due to Newton's first law of motion. First law of motion is called as law of inertia.

This law states that an object will be at rest and an object will be in motion unless an external force applied to it. Due to this reason, a person getting down from the moving bus falls in the direction of motion of the bus.

The related law and also define the related physical quantity.

  • A person who boards a moving bus will fall to the ground in that direction. This is because when a person falls, their upper body continues to move due to inertia of motion even though their foot immediately comes to rest as they contact the ground. A person won't fall over, though, if he starts jogging in the direction of the slowly moving bus.
  • Concerned for Ram is Sham. He is aware of the hazard involved in stepping off a moving bus.
  • The law of inertia states that every material body has a characteristic that makes it resistant to changes in either its state of rest or motion. This quality is known as inertia.
  • According to Newton's first law, unless an outside force causes it to change, every item will remain at rest or in uniform motion in a straight path. Inertia is the propensity to oppose modifications to a condition of motion.
  • A body at rest or travelling in a straight line at a constant speed will continue to do so unless it is acted upon by a force, according to the law of inertia, often known as Newton's first law, a physics postulate.
