Ram takes 3 hours more than kartik, who drives his car 5 kmph faster than ram, to cover a distance of 180 km. What is the speed of ram?

According to given condition,

Let the time taken by Ram is (t+3) hrs

The speed of Kartik = (x+5) km/h

Distance, d = 180 km

We know that :

Speed = distance/time

For Kartik, (x+5)t=180......(1)

For Ram, (t+3)x=180

As distance is same, so,

(x+5)t=(t+3)x\\\\5t=3x\\\\t=\dfrac{3x}{5}......(1)

Equation (1) becomes :

(x+5)\times (\dfrac{3x}{5})=180\\\\3x^2+15x-900=0\\\\x^2+5x-300=0\\\\x^2+20x-15x-300=0\\\\(x-15)(x+20)=0\\\\x=15\ or\ x=-20

So, the speed of Ram is 15 km/h.
