Given,

No. of Mangoes = 12.

Ram's share = No. of Mangoes × 1/2 = 12 × 1/2 = 6.

Sita's share = ( Total no. of Mangoes - Ram's share ) ×1/3

                   = ( 12 - 6 )×1/3

                   = 6 × 1/3

                  = 2.

Left Mangoes = Total no. of Mangoes - ( Ram's share + Sita's share )

                       = 12 - ( 6 + 2 )

                      = 12 - 8 = 4.


Hence , 4 mangoes were left in the basket.
