Hello!

So, Ram travels 6000 km in total, right?

He covers 2/5 of the distance by train:

2/5 of 6000 = 0.40*6000 = 2400 km.

He covers 1/3 of the distance by bus:

1/3 of 6000 = 0.33*6000 = 2000 km.

This is the answer you are asking for, but when try to solve further ahead, we can see that he has travelled a total 4400 km and is yet to travel the remaining 1600 km. Thank You!

  1. Here distance is 6000. He covers 2/5 of distance by train  i.e., 2*6000/5 is the distance which he covered by train i.e.,2400kms
  2. and 1/3 of it  by bus i.e., 6000/3 is the distance travelled by bus i.e., 2000kms
  3. Hence distance covered by train and bus 2000+2400=4400kms
