then, from Pythagoras theorem,
separation between starting and finishing point is given by $\sqrt{3^2+(11-7)^2}=\sqrt{3^2+4^2}=5km$

hence, Ram is 5km far from the starting point.

According to the statement we can plot the graph like that,just assume any side as north and follow the direction.

let he starts from point A, after walking 7 km he reached at B,

turn left and walk 3 km till point C

turn left walk 7 km till D.

To find the distance from A to D

A(0,0) D(-4,3)

Distance Formula:from origin

$\sqrt{ {x}^{2} + {y}^{2} }$


$\sqrt{ {( - 3)}^{2} + ( {4)}^{2} } \\ \\ = \sqrt{9 + 16} \\ \\ = \sqrt{25} \\ \\ = 5 \: km$
