The average speed of Ram is 45 kilometres per hour.

• Given data :

The velocity in the going trip was 40 kilometres per hour.

The velocity in the returning trip was 50 kilometres per hour.

• Now, if we have to calculate the average speed during the whole trip then we have to determine the total number of rounds in the whole trip.

• So,the number of rounds

= Going trip + Returning trip

= 1 round + 1 round

= 2 rounds

• Now,we have to calculate the total speed in the whole journey.

= 40 Kilometres per hour + 50 kilometres per hour

= 90 kilometres per hour

• At last we have to calculate the average speed of the whole journey by using the following mathematical formula ;

= Total speed / Total rounds of trip

= 90/2

= 45 km/h

• So,the average speed of the journey is 45 kilometres per hour. (Answer)
