Ram works as a plant superintendent in a carpet manufacturing factory. In order to complete export orders on time, the production manager asks him to make the workers work over time whereas the finance manager is strictly against this practice because it will increase the cost of production. As the factory is manufacturing handmade carpets and machine made carpets, there is always a overlapping of activities. 1) Identify and explain the principle of management which is being violated. 2) Give your suggestions for improving organisational effectiveness.3) State the importance of implementing management by objectives in organisation.​

•Unity of command:

  • There should be one and just one boss for each individual employee.
  • Dual subordination should be avoided. Fayol felt that if this principle is violated, “authority is undermined, discipline is in jeopardy, order disturbed and stability threatened”.

•Unity of direction:

  • All the units of a company should be moving towards the identical objectives through coordinated and focused efforts.
  • Each group of activities having the identical objective must have one head and one plan.
  • This may result in unity of action and coordination.

Importance of implementing management by objective in organisation:

  • Implementation is that the process of executing a concept or policy so an idea becomes a reality.
  • To implement an inspiration properly, managers should communicate clear goals and expectations, and provide employees with the resources needed to assist the corporate achieve its goals.
