Answer:

Let age of Ramaiah be 5x and age of son, Gopi be x.

Then , (5x)×(x)=320

5x²=320

=x²=320/5

=x=√64

=x=8

Thus , age of Ramaiah =5x=5×8=40years

Age of Gopi =8 years.

Sum of their ages 3 years before

=(40-3) + (8-3)

=37+5

=42

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the age of Ramiah be x and Gopi be y

From 1st condition

X/y = 5/1

X = 5y...........1

From 2nd condition

X*y = 320.............2

From equation 1 and 2

5y^2= 320

Y^2 = 320/5 = 64

Taking square root on both side

Y = 8

From eq 1

X= 8*5=40

Hence 3 yr before age of ramaih= x-3 = 40-3=37

And age of Gopi = y-3=8-3=5

Sum of their ages = 37+5=42
