Geography, asked by neelam13kapoor, 9 months ago

Raman and Rohit are travelers. They went to Himalayas for exploring new places in their car. On their way back while coming down into the plains they somehow enter into the area where streams disappear and they were not able to drive smoothly. Give reason for their inability to drive in this region. Also suggest the relief feature in the Northern plains where they should go for Jungle sfarai. Why?

Answer:

The Northern Plains have great variations in the relief.

According to the variations in relief features, the Northern Plains can be divided into four regions. The rivers after descending from the mountains deposit pebbles in a narrow belt of about 8 to 16 km in width lying parallel to the slopes of the Shiwaliks. It is known as Bhabar.

All the streams disappear in this belt. In the south of this belt, the streams and rivers re-emerge and create a wet, swampy and marshy region known as Terai.

The largest part of the Northern Plains are formed of older alluvium. They lie above the flood plains of the rivers and present a terrace like feature. This part is known as Bhangar.

The newer younger deposits of the flood plains are called Khadar. It is ideal for agriculture.

While you may have not known about this one, we have zeroed in on five more mystical places from the Himalayan folds to stoke curiosity in you.

1. As the roads of mountains have stones that's why it was difficult to drive
