Explanation 1.

Given:

  • Grey marbles = 52
  • (Red + Black) marbles = 26
  • Capacity of the box = 100 marbles

Therefore total number of marbles is

= 52 + 26

= 78

Here we see that, 78 < 100.

Thus we conclude that all the marbles will fit in the box.

Explanation 2.

Now we consider: if the question mentioned of 26 red and black marbles each.

In this case,

  • Grey marbles = 52
  • Red marbles = 26
  • Black marbles = 26
  • Capacity of the box = 100 marbles

Therefore total number of marbles is

= 52 + 26 + 26

= 104

Here we see that 104 > 100.

Thus we conclude that all the marbles will not fit in the box, and (104 - 100) = 4 marbles will be left outside.
