Solution:

​Let Raman's age be $'x'$

Let Raman's brother's age be $'y'$

Given two equations which are:

$x=y-6\longrightarrow1$

$x+y=28\longrightarrow2$

Substituting the value of $x$ from equation $1$ in equation $2$.

$y-6+y=28$

$2y-6=28$

$2y=28+6$

$2y=34$

$y=\frac{34}{2}$

$y=17$

Therefore, Raman's brother's age is 17 years whereas Raman's age is 6 years younger than his brother which is 11 years.

So,Raman's age=(x - 6)

Sum of their ages=28(given)

ATQ,

x+ x - 6 = 28

=> 2x - 6 = 28

=>2x=28+6

=>2x= 34

=>x =34/2

=>x=17

Raman's brother's age=17years

Raman's age=11years
