No . reflection of light and total internal reflection are not same. In reflection the incidence ray comes into reader medium but in total internal reflection the incidence ray does not come into reader medium.

Hope it is helpful

Reflection

No, reflection of light and total internal reflection of light are not same.

Reflection is a phenomenon in which a part of rays bounce back, some part of the light energy is scattered and some parts of it is refracted.

In total internal reflection , complete reflection of light rays takes place within a medium, all light rays gets reflected. It occurs when the angle of incidence is greater than critical angle. Diamond shines due to total internal reflection.
