avg of 60 marks in 5 subject means he scored total 60×5=300 marks
now deducting marks of maths and sci
300-(100+80)=120
so 120 is total of remaining 3 subject
hence the avg is 120/3=40
option A is.correct

Concept

In order to represent a vast number of numbers with a single number, averages are utilized. It is a visual depiction of every numeric value in the data set. When calculating the average, all the data values are added together and divided by the total number of data points.

Given

Rama's average marks in 5 subjects = 60

Marks scored in math = 100

Marks scored in science = 80

Find

The average marks scored in the remaining subjects.

Solution

By considering the given data

Total marks rama scored = 60 × 5

                                       = 300

Sum of two subject marks = 100 ₊ 80 = 180

Marks scored in the remaining subjects =  300 ₋ 180

                                                               = 120

The average of the remaining subjects = Total marks of the three

                                                          subjects/Total number of subjects

average of three subjects = 120/3

                                        = 40

Hence the average marks rama scored in the remaining three subjects is 40.
