Given:

Ramesh has Rs. 5000 and Suresh has Rs 4000 .the term interest was 3 years.

Both wanted to lend some money to make some profit.

To Find:

The interest for both of them so that Suresh makes more profit than ramesh.

Solution:

Let a be the rate of interest for Suresh and b be the rate of interest for Ramesh.

Lets take Simple interest.

  • A = P ( 1 + rt )
  • A = final amount
  • P = Principal amount
  • r = rate of interest
  • t = time in years

Therefore ,

  • Profit = A - P = Prt

For Suresh to have more profit than Ramesh,

  • Profit ( Suresh) > Profit ( Ramesh )
  • 4000 x a x 3 > 5000 x b x 3
  • a > 5b/4

Let interest rate of Ramesh be 8% .

Then rate of interest of Suresh should be,

  • a > 5 x 8/4
  • a > 10%

The interest rate for Suresh shoudd be 12% and Ramesh can be 8%.
