Solution :-

it is given that, Ramesh bought a shirt for ₹336,including 12% ST .

Let us Assume that, without sales tax The list Price is Rs.x .

Than,

x + 12% ST = Rs.336

→ x + 12% of x = 336

→ x + (12 * x /100) = 336

→ x + 0.12x = 336

→ 1.12x = 336

→ x = (336 * 100) / 112

→ x = Rs.300

Similarly, it is given that, Ramesh bought a Tie for ₹110,including 10% ST .

Let us Assume that, without sales tax The list Price of Tie is Rs.y .

Than,

→ y + 10% ST = Rs.110

→ x + 10% of y = 110

→ x + (10 * y /100) = 110

→ x + 0.1y = 110

→ 1.1y = 110

→ y = (110 * 10) / 11

→ y = Rs.100

Hence,

The List Price (without sales tax) of the shirt and the tie together is = 300 + 100 = Rs.400 (Ans.)

Given :

Ramesh bought a shirt for ₹336, including 12% ST and a tie for ₹110 including 10% ST.

To Find :

find the list of price (without sales tax) of the shirt and the tie together.

Solution :

Finding the price of the shirt :

Let the price of shirt is P

Given : => 12% ST => 12% on P.

Given : Shirt price is Rs 336

ATQ :

=> p + 12% of p = 336

=> p + (12/100) p = 336

=> p + 0.12p = 336

=> 1.12p = 336

=> p = 336/1.12

=> p = 300

So, price of the shirt is Rs 300

Finding the price of the tie :

Let the price of the tie is A

Given : => 10% ST => 10% on A

Given : Tie price is Rs 110

ATQ :

=> A + 10% of A= 110

=> A + (10/100) A = 110

=> A + (0.1) A = 110

=> 1.1A = 110

=> A = 110/1.1

=> A = 100

So, price of the tie is Rs 100

Shirt Price = Rs 300

Tie Price = Rs 100

Cost of Together = Rs 300 + Rs 100 = Rs 400

The list of price (without sales tax) of the shirt and the tie together is Rs 400.
