Ramesh scored 20% of the maximum marks and got failed by 30 marks .Prakash scored 40% of the same and passed by 10 marks . What were the minimum marks required to pass the exam ?

Then (30% of x) + 20 = (40% of x) - 40 ---- (1)

30/100 x + 20 = 40/100 x - 40

1/10 x = 60

x = 600.

Therefore, (30% of 600) + 20 = (30/100 * 600 + 20)

= 200.

Pass % = (200/600 * 100)%

= 33.3 (or)33 1/3.
